In Conclusion

Thank you for taking the time to look at our book, and thank you for bringing this beautiful baby into the world, for being brave, loving, and nurturing. Being parents has always been a dream of ours, and we cannot wait to be parents to another child. If chosen as adoptive parents, we promise that we will love him/her with all our hearts and give them all the love, support, and education (and cuddles) that they can handle.

Our families’ hearts...

Hobbies

Both of us have fond childhood memories of Disneyland, and to this day, we still enjoy anything Disney. We have made it a goal to go to Disneyland every few years. We cannot wait to bring another child along and see their face light up when they finally meet Mickey Mouse for the first time.

We also love just to drive to the California coast and enjoy the sun or go camping in our trailer with our families. Being outdoors is something that we both...

Traditions

Our favorite time of the year is Christmastime! We spend Christmas Eve morning with Kayla’s family and enjoy a big breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We each get one present to open up early, and it’s always matching pajamas. We sit together as a family in our matching pajamas with the fire roaring as we read the story of Jesus Christ’s birth, as told in the Bible. Then we read The Night Before Christmas and even though we aren’t kids anymore, we always turn on the news to see Santa take off on his sleigh. Santa always visits us...

Our Family

We are very close with both of our families. Some of Dustin’s siblings live just a couple of minutes away, and we get together for dinner almost once a week. Grandpa and Grandma also live within a couple of minutes of our house, and both of them cannot wait to welcome grandbaby number twenty into their hearts. We are glad to have family so close; we always have plenty of hands to help!

We love to visit Kayla’s family every other week for a couple...

Our Daughter, Rosie

Meet our shared best friend, our daughter, Rosie! She is the happiest, goofiest, sweetest, and sassiest girl you might ever meet. She was brought into our family through adoption. Each adoption story is quite unique and Rosie’s is just that, unique! We were blessed to have her join our family at birth about four years ago. While Rosie’s birth momma decided that a closed adoption plan was best for her, we have always loved the thought of an open adoption and hope for an open adoption in the future!

Our Home

We have a beautiful, four-bedroom brick house with a huge yard in Northern Utah. Our small but perfect little garden on the side of our house is where we grow our favorite veggies; tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, and squash! During the summer, our backyard is full of laughter and the smell of delicious hamburgers. Dustin is quite the grill master.

Kayla has had a blast decorating our house, and she has done a fantastic job. It is not uncommon to catch...

About Kayla

Kayla grew up in Utah as the second oldest of four kids. Ever since she was young, Kayla has always wanted to have children, and she has proven herself to be a wonderful mother to our daughter. Kayla’s childhood was filled with camping, from Yellowstone to Disney’s Campground in California, to Capital Reef to Arches. Almost every weekend during the summer, Kayla was out on the ATVs, enjoying the great outdoors. Disney World was a favorite spot for Kayla. Her family has been able to enjoy a couple of vacations...

About Dustin

Dustin grew up in Utah as the second youngest of seven children. He loves having a big family; being younger, he’s had nephews and nieces for half his life. Dustin’s favorite memory growing up was camping with his whole family at Bear Lake - the sun going down, the warmth of the water, he and his brothers tossing a football back and forth for hours. Disneyland was another one of his favorite spots. His family members lined up and waited to jump into the log boat that would take them down Splash Mountain (his favorite ride)....

Our Story

Hi! We are Dustin and Kayla, and we thank you for taking the time to look over our Parent Profile. We are excited to start the process of our second adoption and we hope that by reading this book, you will be able to learn a little bit more about us. We first met on a blind date, set up by Dustin’s brother, who worked with Kayla. We fell in love quickly and soon realized that we were meant to be together. Dustin asked Kayla to marry him on Valentine’s Day in 2012, and we were married in June.
